Aquaman (Movie Review)

Aquaman (2018)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5

Directed by James Wan
Story by Geoff Johns, James Wan,
and Will Beall
Starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, & Willem Dafoe.

When I saw who was playing Aquaman in a quick cameo in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I was intrigued. Jason Momoa, based off looks alone, is much more badass looking than the actual Aquaman comics character. Once I really saw Aquaman in action in Snyder's/Whedon's (more Whedon's) Justice League, I wanted a solo Aquaman movie. I mean, come on, he was riding on the Batmobile with his trident and he sky-surfed a parademon!

Aquaman is one of the best superhero movies ever made. Director James Wan is a phenomenal director, the cast is perfect, the effects are great, and the story is superb.

In Aquaman, King Orm (Patrick Wilson) rules the now sunken Atlantis. With help from his army, King Orm wants to conquer the oceanic kingdoms, and eventually, the surface -- submerging everything in water. Mera (Amber Heard) and Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe) call for Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) to help put a stop to King Orm's reckless plans, as he is the true heir to the thrown of Atlantis.

The visuals are incredible. The action and fight scenes are extremely well-done and breath-taking. The acting is strong, and the story is epic, heartfelt, and overcomes diversity (they call Aquaman a half-breed many times).

The air bubble, talking thing is gone (see Justice League) and I'm glad. Ocean life has never looked so badass -- like outer space but, like, water. There is like six or so minutes of oceanic horror and I loved it. I liked Aquaman/Arthur Curry even more in this movie. It was awesome to see Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) and Mera (Amber Heard) in action. King Orm/Ocean Master is one of the best villains ever. Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is incredible. Best Black Manta ever.

Watch Aquaman ASAP because it is the best movie of 2018.
