Return to Fear Street - Drop Dead Gorgeous by R.L. Stine (Review)

R.L. Stine is the reason why I am here today horror blogging and writing my own stories. His books opened a whole new world for me; an escape into the unknown. He did that with Goosebumps, and he did it bloody with Fear Street. Fear Street is the more YA catered series, while Goosebumps is for kids ages 8 to 12 (I still read them anyway). So when I read Fear Street, I liked it a lot more because a lot of the stories were slasher-like, especially with Stine's Point Horror books. So when R.L. Stine returned once again for some new Fear Street tales with Return to Fear Street I was excited!

Drop Dead Gorgeous is about a new girl in town named Morgan Marks who is very popular (especially with the guys), nice, smart, and very beautiful--the total package. But her past is a mystery, and soon, strange things start happening to the new people she befriends like murder. The secrets come crawling out the grave at the Shadyside Homecoming.

Drop Dead Gorgeous--like most of the Fear Street books (new and present)--reminded me of slasher movies that would go straight to video. It is totally bonkers, comedic at times, but it has a sense of dread and gore that will please any horror-loving fan. If you come to this book expecting some kind of literary phenomena then this isn't the book for you. These titles are for the fans of fun horror with plenty of gore. And I very much enjoyed it.

Another thing I liked about this story was the range of characters and getting to read a whole chapter or two as them. We get to get in their minds and see what they think and how they are living. I thought it was really cool that Stine switched it up so much. And a good thing was that, unlike other stories, you weren't confused about who was who. Once you read a characters mechanisms or the way they carried themselves, you knew right away which character it was.

Rating: 🎃🎃🎃.5/5
