Book Review: Metalpocalypse: A Death Metal Short Story by R.F. Blackstone

Book: Metalpocalypse: A Death Metal Short Story
Author: R.F. Blackstone
Rating: 🎃🎃🎃🎃/5

Through the almighty powers of social media, I have connected with an author by the name of R.F. Blackstone (sounds like a badass from a Western flick). I saw that he had recently put out a short story called Metalpocalypse: A Death Metal Short Story which is about a death metal band who are about to unleash Hell--literally, so I had to read it. I am a huge fan of rock music and of the whole death metal culture, so I read it quickly and was not disappointed.

Metalpocalypse follows a death metal band by the name of Blood Fire Death who have come upon this ancient and evil book called The Book of Spite. The book gives them what they want (money, women, drugs), but it comes with a hellish price.

This story is the result of what would have happened if H.P. Lovecraft had written a book about death metal and the supernatural. The way Blackstone describes the creatures and monsters in his story is terrifying and crazy. I can picture every scene he draws like a painting. It was like seeing paintings of Hell by Hieronymous Bosch but in my mind.

I also really enjoyed the way Blackstone writes. His writing is real, descriptive, and keeps you surprised.
